Piano Tuning and Repairs

I began training as a piano tuner/technician when I was 18

I studied for four years at the London College of Furniture gaining a Higher National Diploma. Since leaving college in 1991 I have worked continuously in the piano trade. Throughout my career, I have gained experience and contacts within the trade.

In 1997 I passed the entrance exam to become a member of The Pianoforte Tuners’ Association.

In 1997 I passed the entrance exam to become a member of The Pianoforte Tuners’ Association.

Membership means I have contact with tuners all over the UK and beyond and helps me to keep abreast with developments within the trade and learn new techniques.

You can find out more about the PTA, piano care and piano tuning here. From 1993 until 2013 I traded as a business partner with John Ross of Corbridge. Since January 2013 I have traded on my own although I also arrange appointments for my colleague Graham Raine.

Graham is an excellent tuner who, like me, trained at the London College of Furniture. Graham has recently returned to the trade after several years working in music education.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, running and I’m involved in club motorsport.
